Costume Makeup For the Trivia Night

The Annual Fishing Club Trivia Night is always a spectacular affair with some of the most elaborate costumes assembled for one grand night of Quiz Questions and this year was no exception!

The competition for best dressed team was fierce, particularly in the lead up to the event as friendships were put on hold while teams closed ranks preparing themselves for the phenomenon that is the GEG & S Fishing Club Trivia Night.
Not only was I fortunate to have been booked for costume makeup, I was also hired by the Fishing Club to photograph the event for them, so I was able to share in the whole event. I love this kind of stuff ~ It’s what I live for!
My makeup booking was for two team members from an “Alice Returns” themed team. I was to paint a Cheshire Cat and a rather sinister White Rabbit.
One of the things I am most often asked at the start of a costume makeup session is “Make me sexy!” and Brooke wanted to look like a “Sexy” Cheshire Cat.
Even though I had practised some pretty wild Pink & Purple striped Cheshire Cat Eyebrows, we decided it wasn’t really going to synchronize with the “Sexy” Cheshire Cat look that Brooke was after.

After a little discussion and preparation, the completed look was this;

Then it was onto the Sinister White Rabbit…
Reece had purchased a mask with his costume, however it was going to be too impractical to wear for a night of quiz questions, drinks and eats ~ So costume makeup was on the cards for him as well.
I started out with a MAC foundation to give him a nice, even, moisturised base. Then I drew on his rabbit features of his eyes, face shape, and teeth. I filled in the features with TAG White and used Mehron Pigment Powders to shade in the details of fur, eyebrows, his nose and eyes. I used TAG black and a fine, angled synthetic brush to outline. To finish off, I sealed the completed look with a NYX Setting spray so Reece could eat, drink and be merry without his makeup getting trashed.
Note: We did discuss the concept of painting Reece’s neck grey however we decided against it as it really was supposed to be a mask ~ and to be honest, I loved the way it turned out.

Another lesson which hurt a little was that I completely failed to take a photo of Reece with his eyes closed ~ as that was how I painted him to look…  Silly me! I’ll try my best to remember for next time!
