Costume MakeUp for Celebrations

Hello My Pretties,

It’s been rather rainy of late and with today being the first sunshiney day we’ve seen here in Cairns in that last week I felt inspired to write my blog and share with you some of the fun costume makeup I was asked to do this week.
When it comes to costume makeup it’s always excellent fun to transform someone into a character and this week I was involved in two events which called for costume transformations…

The Cairns Taipans had quite a triumphant season this year and they finished off last week with their “end-of-season” finale ~ a “T” themed party in Port Douglas.
I was very blessed to have been called upon to help two dashing young Taipans players get into their characters with Matt attending as the “Terminator” along with Brian as Michael Jacksons “Thriller”.

Matt’s look was extremely fun to do with a little SpecialFX style makeup comprising of textured latex along with some face and body art.

Brian already had a great brow for MJ’s Thriller (Zombie) look so I created his un-dead appearance with a muted green mask with dark contouring along with some textured bumps, cracks and deep wrinkles.

Both chaps looked well suited to their characters by the time they left the studio and from all accounts they had a blast of a time at the party.

I was also very fortunate to have been requested to create a “Liza Minnelli” look for my dear friend Helen for her daughters “Hollywood Oscars” themed party.
As Liza’s makeup was traditionally very bold, it was quite a different look to what Helen would usually wear but by the time we were finished, Helen really felt comfortable as her new alter ego.
For Liza, I used a strong, stage makeup look with neutral colours on her eye’s, heavy contouring, loads of colour on her cheeks and lashings of lashes ~ especially accentuating her lower lashes!

I was also very blessed to have attended the Oscars party which was heaps of fun!

Thanks for reading. Wishing you a beautiful week.
