Cairns Makeup Artist Maternity Photography Shoot
Hello My Pretties,
D* from Makeup Artistry Cairns here.
Today I thought I’d share with you the beautiful Maternity shoot I was a part of just recently.
The lovely Teiren is now 35 weeks pregnant and is radiating with her healthy, beautiful baby glow.
Teiren arrived with plenty of time to cool down (as we live in the tropics, this is always a necessary requirement when it’s time to get to the business of applying glamorous makeup for a photo shoot) and relax into the makeup chair ready for her session.
Teiren has a very fair complexion and I would consider her seasonal colour to be in the soft summer range.
Over coffee, we discussed Teirens outfit choices for the shoot and the colour choices and layout I envisioned for her look.
I decided to use the colours of Teirens dress as the palette for her eye makeup as these colours perfectly complimented Teirens complexion and eye colour.
To bring out her soft greeny-blue eyes I used a combination of light green and light blue (Lanmei brand) shimmer mineral pigments across her lids, with a dark blue to enhance the depth of the corners of her eyes and to add that “Hollywood Glamour” to our look.
I wanted to accentuate the green of Teirens dress so I capped off the crease with a dark green which did a beautiful job of making her sparkle and shine.
We started out with a primer on the eyes and added a light blue shimmer mineral powder. To this I blended in the light green shimmer mineral powder, working outwards to the corners of the eyes. I cut the crease with a dark, matt blue and overlaid a dark green which I blended out. I then finished the eyes off with a highlight under the brow bone and blended into the dark green to even things out.
As Teiren’s soft summer skin tone is more suited to a brown liner than a straight black, I used a brown Mac pencil to line the upper and lower lines of her eyes before I blacked in the liner with my favourite liquid eyeliner (W7 Paint the Line by UK brand Warpaint Cosmetics), creating small but striking wings.
I trimmed and added some Mac lashes, contoured Teirens face and finished off her look with a very demure lip by lining and colouring in her lips with a soft plum before adding a fairly light peach coloured gloss.
It was my intention to leave the lips fairly clean as Teirens natural tones provided their own beautiful colour.
A final dusting to set and finish the look was the last step in creating Teirens look before we headed out to meet Ruth Margee, the photographer at a nearby beachside resort for some glamour shots in the late afternoon sun.
I love being on any set and being part of the creative force behind the scenes in any kind of professional, commercial and photographic production.
To be honest, I think it’s where I most like to be. I really enjoy working with other creative folks to capture the beauty of a moment and transform it into a treasure that will last a lifetime.
I was also fortunate to be the photographers assistant for this shoot and enjoyed helping with the lighting and props as Ruth worked her photographic magic.
Teiren had commissioned ReVaMPed photographer Ruth Magree to capture her Maternity memories and Ruth did a brilliant job.
The shoot took place in three pretty scenes around the resort as the sun sunk into the horizon and painted the sky in beautiful hues.
We all worked so well together, it was such a wonderful shoot as you can see from the shots, with Ruth’s amazing photography, my lovely makeup artistry and Teirens beautiful face ~ the results speak for themselves.
Ruth and I have laid the foundation as a successful team and are busy planning our next collaboration.
Until next time, wishing you a beautiful week!
