It was a magnificent day in tropical Cairns today with blue skies and sunshine for the 2015 Cairns Wedding and Formal Expo. I wasn’t hosting a booth for this expo, I actually went along today as a participant which was super fun. It gave me a chance to really explore the cool services that Cairns professionals have on offer for formal and wedding events.

The variety of today’s exhibitors were hefty for such a tight knit industry in such a small city.
Booths included mosquito extermination, insurance brokers, quad bike tours and paint ball parties (for the masculine punters) alongside the glamorous venues, glittering vehicles, gorgeous bridal wear & accessories not to mention the service providers such as photographers, caterers, bar tenders, musical & entertainment service providers…

For me, it was an opportunity to experience an expo from a customer’s point of view, to meet and make friends with some of our other industry service providers but mostly I was there for the glitz, the glamour, the makeup, hair and dresses….

I wore a fairly naked makeup look for the day as I was hoping to have the chance to sit in someone else’s makeup chair during the course of the day and have my makeup done. Armed with my camera and my tote bag, I arrived at the Expo.
The front entrance of the Cairns Convention Centre was decorated in an abundance of swanky cars, a dashing Silver Rolls sat beside a gorgeous white vintage Jaguar, two stretched Limo’s and some other glittering garage pretties.
Once I passed through the ornamental archway and submitted my registration I was in ~ smiling as I wondered by checking out all the nice things to see, nodding at some familiar friendly faces, stopping here and there to have a chat with someone when the time allowed.

Ministry of Makeup and Hair Booth

The Ladies at Ministry of Makeup were well positioned in the centre of the expo and to me they had it going on. A fairly new collaboration of Lou and Mandy’s, a new business the Ladies recently launched as a provider and agency for Cairns Hair and Makeup Services. I hovered around there for a while to watch their work. The booth was large, well lit and the ladies seemed to have a nice energy about them. The team was busy making up entrants for the “Bride of the Year Contest ” and their work was top notch!   Beautiful, bold and what you would expect from a professional.   I met Lou and we had a brief chat ~ I’m sure I’ll have the privilege of seeing their work again soon.

The beautiful, charismatic Derik from WeddingEye was there, one of Cairns busiest Wedding Photographers.

Beautiful models adorned in Gorgeous Bridal Gowns from Devine Bridal and Jovinia were on display in booths and on the runway.

My favourite part of the day was picking up a treasure in the Leukaemia Foundation Second Hand Wedding and Formal Gowns booth, I scored a charcoal coloured satin halter neck gown that fits me like it was made for me for $10 along with 2 stunning ivory wedding veils for a gold coin donation! Beautiful!

I didn’t end up getting my makeup done but that didn’t matter, I was pretty happy.
